Primer Of Robotic And Telerobotic Surgery

by Garth H. Ballantyne, release date 2004, Primer Of Robotic And Telerobotic Surgery Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Primer Of Robotic And Telerobotic Surgery books, Written by an international group of pioneering leaders in robotic and telerobotic surgery, this state-of-the-art volume examines the feasibility, uses, capabilities, and limitations of this emerging technology in surgical practice and training. Chapters discuss current electronic systems for guiding laparoscopic surgery and describe the various surgical robots and telerobotic surgical systems available. Major sections review recent experience with AESOP, a voice-controlled robotic camera holder, in laparoscopic procedures and explore various telerobotic-assisted procedures in cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, and urologic surgery. Other chapters discuss cost issues in clinical use of telerobots, credentialing for telerobotic surgery, and use of telementoring in surgical training.

Robot Surgery

by Seung Hyuk Baik, release date 2010-01-01, Robot Surgery Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Robot Surgery books, Robotic surgery is still in the early stages even though robotic assisted surgery is increasing continuously. Thus, exact and careful understanding of robotic surgery is necessary because chaos and confusion exist in the early phase of anything. Especially, the confusion may be increased because the robotic equipment, which is used in surgery, is different from the robotic equipment used in the automobile factory. The robots in the automobile factory just follow a program. However, the robot in surgery has to follow the surgeon’s hand motions. I am convinced that this In-Tech Robotic Surgery book will play an essential role in giving some solutions to the chaos and confusion of robotic surgery. The In-Tech Surgery book contains 11 chapters and consists of two main sections. The first section explains general concepts and technological aspects of robotic surgery. The second section explains the details of surgery using a robot for each organ system. I hope that all surgeons who are interested in robotic surgery will find the proper knowledge in this book. Moreover, I hope the book will perform as a basic role to create future prospectives. Unfortunately, this book could not cover all areas of robotic assisted surgery such as robotic assisted gastrectomy and pancreaticoduodenectomy. I expect that future editions will cover many more areas of robotic assisted surgery and it can be facilitated by dedicated readers. Finally, I appreciate all authors who sacrificed their time and effort to write this book. I must thank my wife NaYoung for her support and also acknowledge MiSun Park’s efforts in helping to complete the book.

Medical Robotics

by Vanja Bozovic, release date 2008-01-01, Medical Robotics Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Medical Robotics books, The first generation of surgical robots are already being installed in a number of operating rooms around the world. Robotics is being introduced to medicine because it allows for unprecedented control and precision of surgical instruments in minimally invasive procedures. So far, robots have been used to position an endoscope, perform gallbladder surgery and correct gastroesophogeal reflux and heartburn. The ultimate goal of the robotic surgery field is to design a robot that can be used to perform closed-chest, beating-heart surgery. The use of robotics in surgery will expand over the next decades without any doubt. Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) is a revolutionary approach in surgery. In MIS, the operation is performed with instruments and viewing equipment inserted into the body through small incisions created by the surgeon, in contrast to open surgery with large incisions. This minimizes surgical trauma and damage to healthy tissue, resulting in shorter patient recovery time. The aim of this book is to provide an overview of the state-of-art, to present new ideas, original results and practical experiences in this expanding area. Nevertheless, many chapters in the book concern advanced research on this growing area. The book provides critical analysis of clinical trials, assessment of the benefits and risks of the application of these technologies. This book is certainly a small sample of the research activity on Medical Robotics going on around the globe as you read it, but it surely covers a good deal of what has been done in the field recently, and as such it works as a valuable source for researchers interested in the involved subjects, whether they are currently “medical roboticists” or not.

Bailey And Love S Short Practice Of Surgery

by Norman S. Williams, release date 2008, Bailey And Love S Short Practice Of Surgery Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Bailey And Love S Short Practice Of Surgery books, Bailey & Love's Short Practice of Surgery remains one of the world's pre-eminent medical textbooks, beloved by generations of surgeons, with lifetime sales in excess of one million copies. Now in its 25th edition, the content has been thoroughly revised and updated while retaining its traditional strengths. Under the stewardship of the eminent editorial team, comprising two editors with experience gained over previous editions and a third editor new to this edition, and in response to reader feedback, the content has been sub-divided into parts to ensure a logical sequence and grouping of related chapters throughout while the text features enthusiastically received in the last edition have been retained. The new edition opens with sections devoted to the underlying principles of surgical practice, investigation and diagnosis, and pre-operative care. These are followed by chapters covering all aspects of surgical trauma. The remainder of the book considers each of the surgical specialties in turn, from elective orthopaedics through skin, head and neck, breast and endocrine, cardiothoracic and vascular, to abdominal and genitourinary. Key features: Authoritative: emphasises the importance of effective clinical examination and soundly based surgical principles, while taking into account the latest developments in surgical practice. Updated: incorporates new chapters on a wide variety of topics including metabolic response to injury, shock and blood transfusion, and surgery in the tropics. Easy to navigate: related chapters brought together into clearly differentiated sections for the first time. Readable: preserves the clear, direct writing style, uncluttered by technical jargon, that has proved so popular in previous editions. User-friendly: numerous photographs and explanatory line diagrams, learning objectives, summary boxes, biographical footnotes, memorable anecdotes and full-colour presentation supplement and enhance the text throughout. Bailey and Love has a wide appeal to all those studying surgery, from undergraduate medical students to those in preparation for their postgraduate surgical examinations. In addition, its high standing and reputation for unambiguous advice also make it the first point of reference for many practising surgeons. The changes that have been introduced to the 25th edition will only serve to strengthen support for the text among all these groups.
