The Concept Of God The Origin Of The World And The Image Of The Human In The World Religions

by P. Koslowski, release date 2012-12-06, The Concept Of God The Origin Of The World And The Image Of The Human In The World Religions Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Concept Of God The Origin Of The World And The Image Of The Human In The World Religions books, All religions make statements about God or the Absolute and about "the beginning": about the beginning of the world and the beginning and nature of the human person. Propositions about God, the human person, and the world, statements about God's eternity or process of becoming, about the status and nature of the human person as the "image of God", and about the beginning of the world are woven into "religious speculations about the beginning". The theology, anthropology, and cosmology of the world religions determine the image of the human person and the image of the world in the world cultures shaped by the different religions. They stand in a tense relationship with the anthropologies and cosmologies of modern science, which in turn challenge the religions to deepen their image of the human person. With this volume leading thinkers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam provide the reader with a first-hand source for understanding the five world religions and their teaching about God, the human person, and the origin of the world.

The Origin And The Overcoming Of Evil And Suffering In The World Religions

by P. Koslowski, release date 2013-03-14, The Origin And The Overcoming Of Evil And Suffering In The World Religions Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Origin And The Overcoming Of Evil And Suffering In The World Religions books, All religions face the challenge of explaining, in view of God's goodness, the existence of evil and suffering in the world. They must develop theories of the origin and the overcoming of evil and suffering. The explanations in Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism of evil and suffering and their origin, as well as these world religions' theories of how to overcome evil and suffering, differ from one another, but are also similar in many respects. The human person is always considered to be the origin of evil, and also to be the focus of aspirations to be able to overcome it. The conviction that evil and suffering are not original and can be overcome is characteristic of and common to the religions. The explanations of the origin of evil are closely related to the explanations of the continuation and propagation of evil in human persons, in nature, and in our technology and culture that have been developed in the religions - in Christianity, for example, as the doctrine of original sin. Finally, the world religions are concerned with how to cope with suffering and offer guidance for overcoming evil and suffering. Leading scholars of five world religions, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Hinduism, have created with this volume a first-hand source of information, which enables the reader to gain a better understanding of these religions' central teachings about the origin and the overcoming of evil and suffering.

The Concept Of Woman

by Prudence Allen, release date 1997-05-22, The Concept Of Woman Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Concept Of Woman books, This pioneering study by Sister Prudence Allen traces the concept of woman in relation to man in more than seventy philosophers from ancient and medieval traditions. The fruit of ten years' work, this study uncovers four general categories of questions asked by philosophers for two thousand years. These are the categories of opposites, of generation, of wisdom, and of virtue. Sister Prudence Allen traces several recurring strands of sexual and gender identity within this period. Ultimately, she shows the paradoxical influence of Aristotle on the question of woman and on a philosophical understanding of sexual coomplemenarity. Supplemented throughout with helpful charts, diagrams, and illustrations, this volume will be an important resource for scholars and students in the fields of women's studies, philosophy, history, theology, literary studies, and political science.

Download Passions Of The Earth In Human Existence Creativity And Literature books, Literature reveals that the hidden strings of the human `passional soul' are the creative source of the specifically human existence. Continuing the inquiry into the `elemental passions of the soul' and the Human Creative Soul pursued in several previous volumes of this series, the present volume focuses on the `passions of the earth', bringing to light some of the primogenital existential threads of the innermost bonds of the Human Condition and mother earth. In Tymieniecka's words, the studies purpose to unravel the essential bond between the living human being and the earth - a bond that lies at the heart of our existence. A heightened awareness of this bond should enlighten our situation and help us find our existential bearings.

The Kingdom Of God And World Religions

by Mariasusai Dhavamony, release date 2004, The Kingdom Of God And World Religions Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Kingdom Of God And World Religions books, In the New Testament purifyng it from the Jewish nationalism Jesus puts in prominence the moral character of the Kingdom of God, making it the gift of grace underlining its eschatological and transcendent essence. In Jesus words and actions the Kingdom of God was present in its fullness. In the eschatological sense Christ's life, death and resurrection belong to the history of the kingdom of God. Since the resurection the history of the Kingdom of God has become the history of the missions. The Kingdom of God is the redemptive reign of God dynamically active to eteblish his rule among men, and this Kingdom has already come into human history in the person and mission of Jesus to overcome evil to deliver humans from its power, and to bring them into the blessings of God's reign. The church remains on earth as the as the sign of the kingdom of God, namely as the presence of Christ after the ascension. She prolongs and continues the mistery of Christ and his mission in the world. The second Vatican Council understands the term as a series of works done by God (SC 35; DV 2) from creation(LG2) to parousia (LG 48) and includes also human co-operation with grace (LG 65) Christ , the Lord of all active in creation, points to God the Father who in the Spirit leads and guides history. It is in this context that we have to undestand the active presence of the Triune God in other religions. Thus the Kingdom of God is Christocentric and Trinitarian. (Novo Millennio Ineunte 5). At the centre of the new evangelization there should be, always, Jesus Christ , Way, Truth, and Life. New Evangelization signifies the announcing of the Good News, i.e., God loves humans, he saves them in Jesus Christ, his Son, and calls them to salvation
