A Fresh Look At Genesis 1 2

by Gary W Schneider, release date 2021-03-15, A Fresh Look At Genesis 1 2 Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download A Fresh Look At Genesis 1 2 books, One of this book’s main themes is how God’s ‘Book of Nature’ is concordant with His ‘Book of Scripture’. In their writings, many of the pioneers of the Scientific Revolution often referred to God’s two ‘Books’. These brilliant naturalists were also devout Christians. But that was back then. Is modern science actually compatible with Scripture? More to the point, are the findings of 21st-century science concordant with the Genesis creation story? What else does the text of Genesis 1-2 have to say? While making an honest effort to answer those questions, some vitally-important theological concepts (which were introduced by Moses in the first two chapters of Genesis) are also examined and discussed in this volume. This comprehensive study (on how modern science is concordant with the intended meaning of the text of Genesis 1-2) has many useful features, including the following: Much of the first two parts of the book consists of background material on: (1) logic, (2) history and philosophy of science, and (3) ‘scientific method’, as well as (4) basic geological principles, (5) descriptions of Plate Tectonic theory, and (6) the principles and methods of radiometric dating. This background material is designed to help the reader to understand the implications of the empirical evidence presented in Part Two: God’s Book of Nature. Similarly, there is also extensive material on: (1) Biblical interpretation and hermeneutics, (2) textual criticism, (3) the history of ancient Israel, (4) development of the Hebrew language, and (5) some of the basic elements of Biblical Hebrew. This material is given prior to looking at the literary structure and genre of the Genesis 1-2 text, and then conducting thorough and complete exegetical analyses of the various textual units of Genesis 1-2 in Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture. Prior to the exegetical analyses for each of the textual units of Genesis 1-2, (1) the Biblical Hebrew text, (2) a standard English translation, and (3) an Interlinear version of the text of that unit are provided. The Interlinear version consists of (a) the Hebrew text, with (b) SBL transliterations and (c) English glosses below each one of the Hebrew words. Color coding and other types of annotations/highlighting are used throughout Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture, in order to help the reader identify important Biblical Hebrew elements, including recurring phrases, important BH words, and key BHVS verb forms. There are more than 2000 detailed footnotes. Many of these footnotes also cross-reference other topics in the book to make it easier for the reader to refer back to a discussion of some important theme or concept. Excerpts from the entries of reputable Hebrew and Greek lexicons (for words written in the original languages of the Biblical text) are also footnoted. An Appendix is included with a Key to Transliteration and Pronunciation for Biblical Hebrew graphemes; it also has a short section on Biblical Hebrew Accent Markings. Numerous detailed, colored figures are sprinkled throughout the text. In many of these figures, the artwork itself is worth the inexpensive price of the digital edition of this book. Part Six: The Good News is worth reading as a stand-alone exposition of God’s Grace, but it also helps put the rest of the book in context. Although the most common (and logical) way to read A Fresh Look at Genesis 1-2 is from start to finish, this 1100-page book was also intended to be used as a reference work. Footnotes direct the reader back to pertinent material in preceding chapters that might not have been read already (or that readers might want to revisit, in order to refresh their memory on some topic). Download A Godly Leader On Trial A Fresh Look At Nehemiah books, For Church leaders in the twenty-first century who subscribe to the Inerrancy of the Bible and its authority in all matters of life and practice, change is necessary for the spiritual growth of the Church. The goal is to prepare Christian leaders to obey their creed by leading through biblical guidance. In his analysis of the leadership principles and style of Nehemiah, author Dr. R. Zarwulugbo Liberty proposes a paradigm shift back to Godly leadership as exemplified by Nehemiah, who: * Pays attention to details (Neh 1: 1-3). * Cares for his people and country (Neh 1: 3). * Loves God (Neh 1: 4) with all his heart, soul, mind, strength, and loves his neighbor as himself (Mk 12: 30-31). * Prays persistently (Neh 1: 4-11) and fears God in all that he does. * Establishes a genuine relationship with God (Neh 1: 5). * Serves God and his people with a servant's heart and takes personal responsibility (Neh 1: 5-6). * Obeys God's command and has the ability to repent (Neh 1: 6-7). * Knows and applies God's Word in every condition (Neh 1: 8-9). * Believes in God's great power of redemption (Neh 1: 10). * Serves on God's mission with excellence and respects authority (Neh 2: 1-2).

A Christian Geologist Explains Why The Earth Cannot Be 6 000 Years Old

by Dr. Lorence G. Collins, release date 2021-03-24, A Christian Geologist Explains Why The Earth Cannot Be 6 000 Years Old Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download A Christian Geologist Explains Why The Earth Cannot Be 6 000 Years Old books, A Christian Geologist Explains Why the Earth Cannot Be 6,000 Years Old: Let's Heal the Divide in the Church By: Dr. Lorence G. Collins This book is about the geology of the Earth. Written by a fully committed Christian, it asserts that accepting the knowledge provided by studies in science is in no way in conflict with following the teachings of Jesus. If a Christian understands how God has done his creation, then he/she can be a better steward in taking care of the Earth and its life. The general themes of the book are: to expose the false beliefs of young-Earth creationists regarding the age of the Earth being 6,000 years old and that Noah's Flood must have been worldwide (global) in extent; and to suggest that the Bible is not a science text. The contents of this book can be understood by both people trained in science and those who have no background in science. It is intended to give a valuable source of insights about how science works; to provide a way to support and guide a Christian witness to the world, and to be a “bridge” to make this possible. As Christians, our greater mission is not to battle over divisions in religious beliefs but to heal the sick, feed the hungry, minister to the abandoned, and so on.

Commentary On Genesis 1 1 11 26

by D.J. Letscher, release date 2020-01-28, Commentary On Genesis 1 1 11 26 Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Commentary On Genesis 1 1 11 26 books, As no part of the Bible is to be considered more important than any other part and there are no words of Scripture that we can do without, the words of Genesis 1:1""11:26 are not considered any more or less important or noteworthy than another set of eleven chapters randomly found in Scripture. These eleven chapters do, however, form the beginning of God's word to us and we are presented with history on a universal scale. In my opinion, it is the most sensible place to begin learning about our heavenly Father and about His eternal plan. This approach will give a Bible student the fundamental knowledge that is essential to understanding all remaining Scripture. This commentary will cover topics such as: 1. The Creation of the Heaven and the Earth by God in Eternity Past (Gen. 1:1) and the Ruin in which they Ended (Gen. 1:2). 2. The Six Days of Creation in Time Present (Gen. 1:2""31), Including the (Sixth Day) Creation of all "mankind," both "male and female" (Gen. 1:27), and the Blessing by God of the Seventh Day (Gen. 2:1""3). 3. The Generations of the Heavens and of the Earth (Gen. 2:4-4:26). 4. The (Sixth Day) Formation of Adam (Gen. 2:7), the Creation of Eve (Gen. 2:22), and Their Stay in the Garden of Eden (2:8-25). 5. The Beguiling of Adam and Eve by Satan (Gen. 3:1-7); the Punishment Determined by God upon Satan, Eve, and Adam (Gen. 3:8-24). 6. The Promise of a Savior (Gen. 3:15). 7. The Birth of Cain and Abel; the Murder of Abel by Cain, and the Lineage of Cain (Gen. 4:1-24). 8. The Lineage of Adam and the Antediluvian, or Pre-Flood, Patriarchs (Gen. 5:1-31). 9. The Fallen Angels and their Progeny; the Giants (Gen. 6:1-7). 10. Grace found only in Noah (Gen. 6:8). 11. The Pedigree of Noah; the Ark, and the Flood (Gen. 6:9-9:29). 12. The Generations of the Sons of Noah (Gen. 10:1-31). 13. Nimrod and the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:1-9). 14. The Generations of Shem (Gen. 11:10-26). In addition, below each verse of the eleven chapters covered selected words will be highlighted and both the equivalent Hebrew translation of the word, as well as its definition will be given. *Definitions given are from The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible

Rethinking Genesis 1 11

by Gordon Wenham, release date 2015-03-13, Rethinking Genesis 1 11 Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Rethinking Genesis 1 11 books, Genesis 1-11 contains some of the best-known stories in the world. To modern Westerners they may look like no more than entertaining tales that children can enjoy, but modern adults cannot take seriously. However, when read in the context of the ancient Orient, Genesis 1-11 looks very different. It turns out to be a truly revolutionary document. In retelling the history of the ancient world, it puts a new spin on it by introducing an all-powerful, all-knowing, unique God whose greatest concern is human welfare. The God who appears in Genesis 1-11 is the God presupposed by all the Old Testament writers, indeed by the New Testament as well. The gripping tales of Genesis thus provide the theological spectacles for a sympathetic reading of the Bible. They are the gateway to a valid understanding of its message and can even help modern believers construct a worldview that integrates both the discoveries of modern science and the insights of Christian theology.

Announcements Of Plot In Genesis

by Laurence A. Turner, release date 2008-04-14, Announcements Of Plot In Genesis Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Announcements Of Plot In Genesis books, This volume investigates the plots of the Genesis stories. Rather than fragmenting Genesis into hypothetical sources and reading each in isolation from the others, as has often been the case in scholarship, this final-form reading exposes the coherence and complexity of the book. In particular, the initial announcements of plot, prefacing each major block of the book are shown to exercise an intimate yet surprising influence over the narratives they govern. The seemingly naive stories of Genesis, when read wholistically, offer profound insights into the interplay between divine providence and human free will.

Oral World And Written Word

by Susan Niditch, release date 1996-01-01, Oral World And Written Word Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Oral World And Written Word books, This book is an essential resource for understanding the question of the Bible's relationship to orality. Susan Niditch offers a strong argument for the continuity of the literature of the Israelites. She helps the modern reader look at the Bible as living words, breathing life into us daily, instead of seeing the text as a foregone artifact. Volumes in the Library of Ancient Israel draw on multiple disciplines--such as archaeology, anthropology, sociology, linguistics, and literary criticism--to illuminate the everyday realities and social subtleties these ancient cultures experienced. This series employs sophisticated methods resulting in original contributions that depict the reality of the people behind the Hebrew Bible and interprets these insights for a wide variety of readers.
