Women Presidents Of Latin America

by Farida Jalalzai, release date 2015-08-20, Women Presidents Of Latin America Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Women Presidents Of Latin America books, Women are gaining ground as presidents of Latin America. Women leaders in presidential systems (particularly women directly elected by the public) were generally limited to daughters and wives of male executives or opposition leaders. With the election of Michelle Bachelet in Chile, these traditional patterns appeared to be shifting. This book asks: what conditions allowed for a broadening of routes, beyond family ties, for women in Latin America? Do women presidents of Latin America use their powers to enhance women’s representation? While providing valuable insight into the big picture of women in presidential politics throughout Latin America over the last several decades, this book more closely analyzes four women presidents gaining office since 2006: Michelle Bachelet (Chile) Cristina Fernández (Argentina) Laura Chinchilla (Costa Rica) and Dilma Rousseff (Brazil). It assesses the paths and impacts of Latin American women presidents and scrutinizes the ways gender shapes both aspects. No other scholar has offered such an in-depth analysis of the paths and actions of women presidents of Latin America. As such, this book offers important contributions to the gender in politics literature. Its multi-methodological approach consisting of original data collection from field work and in person interviews of political elites and experts combined with an analysis of a host of secondary sources including media articles and public opinion data makes this work exceptionally comprehensive. Its findings are applicable to those studying women, gender, and politics as well as comparative politics, Latin American politics, and leadership studies.

Internationale Berufsp Dagogik Beitr Ge Einer Theorie Zum Internationalen Berufsbildungstransfer

by Wolf, Stefan, release date 2015-07-30, Internationale Berufsp Dagogik Beitr Ge Einer Theorie Zum Internationalen Berufsbildungstransfer Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. The publication is a collection of articles, discussion papers and contribution to anthologies which the author rearranges to present some international perspective of technical and vocational Education in a broad range. Base of the collection is the former and current practical and scientific work in the field of international TVET cooperation. Starting with a retrospective of the history of the German Academic discipline “Berufspädagogik” the author deploy three more internationally coherent perspective of the German “Berufspädagogik”. First he claims for a more theoretical grounding of the Technical and Vocational Education to drive the views towards pedagogy of employment. Secondly in combination with the larger theoretical assumption as vocation can be, to open to a better understanding how a given society will organise its societal obligation to reproduce their workforce and labour. Third the author formulate the obligation to develop more as before a methodology of a multi- level-comparison to come to a deeper understanding of foreign labour and employment regulations to facilitate an internationalisation of the German TVET education.

Worlds Of Music An Introduction To The Music Of The World S Peoples Shorter Version

by Jeff Todd Titon, release date 2009-01-05, Worlds Of Music An Introduction To The Music Of The World S Peoples Shorter Version Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Worlds Of Music An Introduction To The Music Of The World S Peoples Shorter Version books, This shorter version of the best-selling WORLDS OF MUSIC provides much of the authoritative coverage of the comprehensive version in a format that's accessible to students without any background or training in music. Using a case-study approach, the text presents in-depth explorations of music of several cultures from around the world. The authors, all ethnomusicologists working in their fields of expertise, base their discussions of music-cultures on their own fieldwork, and give students a true sense of both the music and culture that created it. General editor, Jeff Todd Titon, has written the text's opening chapter that introduces students to ethnomusicology and relates each chapter's music heard on the accompanying CDs to the fundamentals of music in a worldwide context. The text concludes with a chapter that invites students to participate by undertaking a fieldwork research project that increases a student's understanding of music in daily life. The supplementary three-CD set works hand in hand with the authors' prose, providing students with access to a wide range of music-cultures and include authentic recordings from the authors' fieldwork. Leading off is the long-standing jewel in the WORLDS OF MUSIC crown -- James Koetting's magnificent recording of postal workers canceling stamps at the University of Ghana post office. A Western-sounding hymn tune performed against African rhythms, this piece, more that any other, lets the student hear contrasting music-cultures. Welthunger Index 2016

by von Grebmer, Klaus, release date 2016-10-11, Welthunger Index 2016 Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.

Haya De La Torre And The Pursuit Of Power In Twentieth Century Peru And Latin America

by Iñigo García-Bryce, release date 2018-08-06, Haya De La Torre And The Pursuit Of Power In Twentieth Century Peru And Latin America Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Haya De La Torre And The Pursuit Of Power In Twentieth Century Peru And Latin America books, Like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, Peruvian Victor Raul Haya de la Torre (1895–1979) was one of Latin America's key revolutionary leaders, well known across national boundaries. Inigo Garcia-Bryce's biography of Haya chronicles his dramatic political odyssey as founder of the highly influential American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA), as a political theorist whose philosophy shifted gradually from Marxism to democracy, and as a seasoned opposition figure repeatedly jailed and exiled by his own government. Garcia-Bryce spotlights Haya's devotion to forging populism as a political style applicable on both the left and the right, and to his vision of a pan-Latin American political movement. A great orator who addressed gatherings of thousands of Peruvians, Haya fired up the Aprismo movement, seeking to develop "Indo-America" by promoting the rights of Indigenous peoples as well as laborers and women. Steering his party toward the center of the political spectrum through most of the Cold War, Haya was elected president in 1962—but he was blocked from assuming office by the military, which played on his rumored homosexuality. Even so, Haya's insistence that political parties must cultivate Indigenous roots and oppose violence as a means of achieving political power has left a powerful legacy across Latin America.
